The Crotchet’s Corner

My perspective about all things inconsequential

The Big Bite

Snakes and humans aren’t always the best of friends, and it is not uncommon for the reptiles to sink their incisors into fleshy parts of the latter.

A pet python in Sacramento,California, was, however, in for a major surprise.

David Senk, a local resident, staggered out of a bar in a highly inebriated state, wandered across to a mini-mart where the reptile’s owner was showing off the animal to people present, and, apparently picked up the snake. What followed next was unexpected – Senk sank his teeth twice into the python, causing serious injury that required emergency surgery and the loss of two ribs – for the snake, that is.

Senk, who told local media that he had no memory of the incident and that he had a drinking problem, was in custody in the Sacramento Jail on $10,000 bail, with the local police having arrested him on charges of maiming/mutilating a reptile.

Serves him right – what he did was disgusting, to say the least.

The police went into action after responding to a call about a man who had been assaulted and was not responsive. It appears that the owner of the snake allegedly had beaten Senk up after she said he bit her pet.

People have been known to do crazy things when drunk, and one of the best ways to get the effects of the juice out of the system is to sleep it off.

Unless, like in the case of this drunk, the reptile looked like an appetizing canapé.

Wonder what on earth he was thinking.
